Officer Elections

Officer Elections for the South Texas Division, USFA will be held after the last event on Saturday, 1 May, 2010. Proxy votes will be accepted and must be submitted to the Divisional Secretary, Kyle Maysel, BEFORE May 1, 2010.

Tournament Events Co-Ordinator
(generally, makes hotel, travel arrangements for refs, staff as needed and supervises meal service,etc. at tournaments of the Division)
At this time, Kyle Maysel is the only announced candidate and for the office of CHAIR.
Summer Nationals Teams

Those clubs wishing to field teams at US Nationals this summer must submit, in writing (written or e-mail), the teams and the events that they wish to fence. Please have this in to Kyle Maysel, Divisional Secretary prior to April 2, 2010. IF there is a need for fence-offs, a date and venue will be announced shortly thereafter.
South Texas National Qualifiers - Bids

The following clubs/entities have expressed interest in co-hosting the upcoming 2010 South Texas Divisional Qualifiers (1-2 May, 2010) for US Summer Nationals:
Alamo Fencing Academy
Austin Fencers Club
Texas State Fencing Club
San Antonio Sports Foundation (Palo Alto College)
The bid process will continue until the last day of March, 2010 and a decision on the venue will be made after April 2, 2010. We will publish this info on this site and send out e-mails with the needed tournament info to the individual contacts for each club that are currently listed on the USFA webpage or that are made known to the SOTXDIV officers.

This year's National Qualifiers will be held the first weekend of May. Co-host bids are now being taken and will close April 1st.

Pentathlon

There will be a U.S. Modern Pentathlon competition on Sunday 31 January, 2010. The Salle at Alamo Fencing will be hosting the one touch epee event. All events, fencing, swimming, cross country run, rapid fire pistol (air) shooting and the horse ride are open events. For for the horse ride, you must know how to ride. More details to be announced.

Referee Clinic and Division Treasurer Election

A referee clinic will be held in conjunction with this season's upcoming Bobcat Open. Details:

Date: Sept. 18, 2009
6 pm – 11:00 pm or so
Location: Jowers Gym 219-220 (upstairs) at Texas State University at San Marcos
Instructor: Gary Van Der Wege (Contact)
Cost: $30 per participant. Cash or checks (payable to South Texas Division, USFA)
Limited to 15 persons
Refreshments provided
Also, Bobcat weekend, eligible South Texas Division members will be asked to vote on Ms. Amy Crawford as Treasurer. She is a 2008 Accounting Graduate of Texas State University at San Marcos and is currently employed as an accountant in San Antonio, Texas. She is, on occasion, a competitive fencer. Ballots will be available at the tournament. She is the only person that indicated interest in the office since the Division's annual meeting that was held in early May, 2009.
